Asplenium scolopendrium
A handsome, evergreen fern with glossy, wavy fronds unfurling in spring. A great fern for the edge of woodland areas and in a shady mixed border, which will tolerate dry soils once it has established.

An evergreen fern forming a clump of arching, bright green fronds with wavy margins and crested tips.
Asplenium trichomanes
A small and beautiful semi evergreen fern often found growing in walls where it will slowly form a thick colony. Tolerant of full sun and very dry conditions once established. Height to around 10cm.
Athyrium niponicum var. pictum
One of the most recognizable and popular of all ferns. Grey green and purple fronds, and a neat growth habit up to 45cm in height and spread. Best in shade, but tolerates sun if planted in moist soil. Deciduous. Note that younger plants will not develop the full patternation until they are slightly more established, and the patternation will be stronger in a little more shade than it will in a sunnier position.
Blechnum penna-marina
Small creeping evergreen fern forming neat clumps of small fronds. Ideal for covering the ground in a damp space in part or full shade.
Blechnum spicant
Native evergreen fern. Narrow lance shaped fronds growing form a central crown. Thrives in a shady spot but must have an acidic soil to really do well.
Dicksonia antarctica
An evergreen, tree fern which tends to be deciduous in colder areas, with a stought, reddish-brown, furry stem producing a rosette of arching, deeply-divided, glossy, dark green fronds up to 3m in length.
Dryopteris affinis 'Cristata'
A striking fern with semi-evergreen, golden-green fronds turning bright green as they mature, forming a shuttlecock shape up to 4ft in height. A really versatile fern suitable for nearly every aspect.
Dryopteris erythrosora var. prolifica
A selected form of Dryopteris erythrosora with red-tinted glossy new fronds. This majestic fern forms a large clump growing up to 60cm in height and spread. and thrives in good light and moist soil. It is evergreen in a mild winter. Very highly recommended and easy to grow.
Dryopteris wallichiana
One of the finest specimen ferns forming a large single crown of tall fronds which emerge from a black crown. Height up to 80cm. Thrives in part shade and moist soil. This is one of those "Must-have" plants.
Matteuccia struthiopteris
Wonderful fresh green unfurling fronds which indeed resemble tall narrow shuttlecocks. These can ultimately form small trunks. Height up to 90cm. Perfect for a dapple shaded spot near to water where it will slowly form a small colony spreading by underground runners.
Polypodium vulgare
Leathery fronds. A British native fern often found growing on trees and walls in damp places. Ht 30cm. Gently creeps with underground rhizomes. Sun or shade.
Polystichum munitum
A robust evergreen fern forming a large clump of erect, narrowly lance-shaped fronds.
Polystichum polyblepharum
One of the best of all garden ferns. Glossy fronds, the new furry crosiers "hang" as they open out which is very unusual as most ferns unfurl the other way. Evergreen fronds which always look fresh.
Polystichum setiferum (Divisilobum Group) 'Herrenhausen'
Broadly triangular fronds held at a distinct angle. This is a particularly striking form of Polystichum setiferum which always stands out. Makes a striking evergreen specimen plant up to 75cm in height and spread. This is a really good woodland plant, excelling in damp shade.
Polystichum setiferum Plumosum Group
One of the softest of ferns forming a soft cushion of multilayered fronds. Height and spread perhaps up to 60cm. Slow growing but best in an open shady position in most soil types.
Polystichum yunnanense
A medium-sized fern with slightly glossy, bright green, glossy fronds with fawn-coloured scales. An unusual and scarce variety.
